Wendy Wu Tours launches China wellness itinerary

Wendy Wu Tours has launched a new nine-day wellness-focused tour of China, taking travellers through Chongqing and Jiuli with a program built around traditional practices including Qigong, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Reiki.

New itinerary targets growing wellness demand

The “In Pursuit of Wellness in China” tour is positioned as product for travellers seeking more than sightseeing, combining cultural experiences with seven wellness elements: mindfulness, Qigong, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Reiki, hot springs, Chinese herbal meals and Miao medicine. The company frames these as complementary wellness and cultural experiences rather than medical treatments.

Chongqing, known as the City of Longevity for its hot springs, anchors the itinerary, with daily meditation, Qigong and Reiki sessions led by Reiki Master Peter Hui, alongside reflexology and mineral hot springs experiences. The tour then moves to Jiuli to explore Miao culture and traditional medicine, before concluding with a river cruise and drone show in Chongqing.

Sonia Orrego, head of product at Wendy Wu Tours, said the itinerary reflected an opportunity to sell China through its cultural traditions rather than standard sightseeing. “Wellness travel can offer a different way to experience a destination, and China has centuries of knowledge and traditions that lend themselves naturally to this type of journey,” Orrego said.

Fully inclusive pricing from $6,880 per person

The tour is priced from $6,880 per person twin share, inclusive of international flights and current taxes, four-star accommodation, domestic transport, guided sightseeing, entrance fees and meals. Group size is capped at 22 travellers, giving agents a smaller-group product to position alongside Wendy Wu’s broader Asia touring range.

Departures run across 2027 and 2028, giving advisors an extended booking window to build the tour into forward China programming as wellness-oriented travel continues to grow as a sales category.
