Eurail’s sale and pledge to community projects

Eurail has strengthened its commitment to responsible travel with a EUR€100,000 (AUD$178,000) donation to The Intrepid Foundation, announced in Sydney on 26 November.

The contribution supports community-led initiatives across Europe and continues Eurail’s efforts to encourage mindful travel, including its 2025 pledge to promote shoulder season rail journeys to help manage overtourism.

Major boost for community impact

Eurail has partnered with The Intrepid Foundation since 2023, donating EUR€370,000 (AUD$661,000) prior to this latest commitment. Funds have supported a diverse range of organisations, from Cooperativa Coraggio in Italy, which champions sustainable agriculture, to Amurtel in Greece, which provides care to disadvantaged women and infants. Eurail’s contributions have also helped save 450 tonnes of clothing, books and textiles from landfill in Croatia and provided pre-natal support and essential products to tens of thousands of new and expectant mothers in Greece.

Kavita Kooijman, Brand Strategist at Eurail, said the company aims to ensure travel “enriches both the traveller and the destinations they encounter”. The Intrepid Foundation’s General Manager, Biheng Zhang, added that Eurail’s long-term partnership continues to drive meaningful outcomes for communities across Europe.

“Journeys That Make A Difference” sale

The announcement coincides with Eurail’s three-week sale offering 25% off all Eurail Global Passes and most One Country Passes, including Greek Island Ferry Passes. The promotion runs from Wednesday 26 November to Wednesday 17 December.

During the sale, the comprehensive Adult Eurail Global Pass (three months continuous, first class) drops from AUD$2,197 to AUD$1,647.75, while the most affordable Adult Global Pass (four days within one month, second class) reduces from AUD$512 to AUD$384. Travellers have 11 months from issue to activate their Pass.

Additional discounts apply for Seniors aged 60 and over, and Youth travellers aged 12 to 27. Up to two children aged four to 11 can travel free with an accompanying adult, youth or senior following recent changes to the Child Pass rules.

Travel agents are encouraged to contact their preferred Eurail Pass distributor by Wednesday 17 December to secure savings for their clients.
