Driving bookings with targeted advertising
Expedia Group’s Flights Sponsored Listings has emerged as a powerful tool for airlines, delivering an 8 per cent increase in ticket sales and a 10 per cent boost in booking value across participating carriers. The targeted advertising solution helps airlines showcase unique services, attract high-intent travellers and optimise revenue.
- avianca leveraged Flights Sponsored Listings to increase awareness and conversion on key US to Central and South America routes. The campaign led to a 13.5 per cent rise in market share and a 64 per cent surge in ticket sales in the first half of 2024.
- Hawaiian Airlines used the solution to stand out on routes from the continental US and Japan to Hawaii, resulting in an 8 per cent increase in ticket sales and a 5 per cent rise in gross booking revenue year-over-year.
- Turkish Airlines expanded its US presence and promoted its Istanbul route, driving a 12 per cent year-over-year increase in ticket sales and an 8.7 per cent rise in booking value.
Beyond individual airline performance, Expedia Group reported a 7 per cent increase in global airline ticket sales year-over-year, with Europe seeing a 46 per cent rise and Asia Pacific and Europe gaining 14.4 per cent and 11.6 per cent in market share, respectively.
New tools help travellers find flight deals
Expedia’s 2025 Air Hacks report has revealed key insights into flight booking trends, including how booking international flights on a Sunday instead of a Friday can save travellers up to 13 per cent.
To help travellers find the best fares, Expedia has launched a new Flight Deals tool in its app. The feature highlights fares at least 20 per cent lower than typical estimated prices, allowing travellers to browse the best deals from their home airport while giving airlines a direct channel to engage with deal-seeking customers.
