Already an iconic destination in its own right, New York State is also the home of several key filming locations for Apple’s “Severance”. Visitors wanting to gain access to a behind the scenes look at key filming locations may like to visit the state, including the locations below.
Dutchess and Rockland Counties (Hudson Valley)
Beacon, NY, is the inspiration behind Lumon’s hometown of Kier. Beyond this association, the city of Beacon is known for rich culinary and artistic scenes, as well as plenty of local shopping opportunities. Travellers with an eye for art may also enjoy visiting the Dia Beacon Museum to appreciate the wealth of contemporary artwork that the former factory houses. Avid fans of Mark’s character from the show will have plenty of places to add to their New York bucket list, with the village of Nyack as the filming location for his neighbourhood in the show, specifically The Village Gate townhouses situated along the Hudson River. Fans will also want to check out local boutiques and take a stroll along Nyack Beach State Park for stunning river views, before heading to dinner at Hudson House, where Mark and Alexa had their first date in season one.

Ulster County (Hudson Valley and Catskills)
Ulster County is home to several “Severance” settings including New Paltz which, as well as being a hiking hotspot and boasting stunning views of the Shawangunk Mountains, was used as Devon’s birthing retreat. The nearby city of Kingston is famous for a lively culture of arts and its iconic Ulster Performing Arts Centre and houses Rondout Creek and the Red Owl Collective in the Midtown District – both of which are featured in the show. Visitors may also wish to explore the area to appreciate its natural beauty and history. Two of the top ways to do so are using the Catskill Mountain Railroad or Hudson River Cruises. Once in the Catskills side of the County, avid fans should check out Phoenicia Diner, a retro establishment which was used as Pip’s Bar and Grill in “Severance”. Beyond this appeal, the diner also holds a 4.6-star average Google rating from over 2,500 visitor reviews. For those wanting to make a day of their trip to Phoenicia, the city has stunning hiking trails and beautiful picnic and relaxation spots along the Ashokan Reservoir.
Westchester County (Hudson Valley)
Another prominent filming area from the series is Westchester County. The quaint Trinity Lutheran Church in White Plains was the location of Petey’s season one funeral, and its mid-century design reflects the character of the surrounding area. White Plains also has several shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities. Those wanting to experience more art and history may want to check out Yonkers, specifically the Hudson River Museum. While the Perpetuity Wing of the museum is featured in a field trip scene of the show, the museum itself also has a planetarium and beautiful Hudson River views. The nearby Untermyer Park & Gardens are the perfect place to take a stroll before heading to The Bier House in Thornwood to see Devon’s residence in person.
For “Severance” fans, New York State is simply unmissable. With many filming locations and a wealth of history, culture, and art, the state really does have something for everyone.
