The Gold Coast has strengthened its position as an accessible tourism destination with the release of the second edition of the Gold Coast Accessible Visitor Guide, adding new accommodation, attractions and event information to help visitors better plan their stay.
Produced by Experience Gold Coast in partnership with the City of Gold Coast, the updated guide features independently assessed accessibility information covering more than 40 accommodation providers, almost 30 attractions, accessible transport, services and events across the region.
Growing support for accessible travel
The new edition includes 12 additional tourism listings, refreshed accessibility assessments and a dedicated Accessible Events section featuring major festivals including Blues on Broadbeach, Cooly Rocks On and BLEACH Festival.
The release comes as accessible tourism continues to grow, with Tourism Research Australia reporting travellers with accessible needs took 85.8 million trips within and across Australia during 2025.
Experience Gold Coast CEO John Warn said the updated guide would make it easier for visitors to plan their trips with confidence.
“We are proud of the progress being made across the city to improve accessibility and create more inclusive visitor experiences,” Warn said.
Resource for travellers and the trade
The city now offers more than 300 accommodation rooms with enhanced accessibility features, while the guide is designed to support both visitors and travel industry partners handling accessible travel enquiries and bookings.
Mayor Tom Tate said improving accessibility benefited residents and visitors alike.
“Accessibility and inclusiveness are key to enhancing a visitor’s experience and this Accessible Visitor Guide is just one way to highlight key programs and facilities in place to support our valued visitors,” he said.
The guide has also been welcomed by Inclusive Tourism Australia and AccessibleOz, which described it as a valuable resource for accessible travel planning.
In addition to the printed guide, visually impaired travellers can access the Discover Gold Coast Audio Guide, which features more than 20 audio tracks covering over 100 attractions, transport options and sensory experiences.
