Intrepid Travel has unveiled its Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), marking a new phase in its ongoing reconciliation journey. The announcement, made during National Reconciliation Week at the company’s Melbourne headquarters, builds on the success of its previous Reflect and Innovate RAPs and outlines bold goals through to 2027.
As Australia’s largest adventure travel company and a certified B Corporation, Intrepid is committing to deeper, long-term action that prioritises First Nations employment, procurement, and truth-telling.
From awareness to action
“This Stretch RAP will challenge us to go further – particularly when it comes to employment and economic empowerment,” said James Thornton, CEO of Intrepid Travel.
“These are the most impactful ways we can help close the gap, and we’re committed to embedding this work across our business.”
Key initiatives in the plan include:
- Creating meaningful career pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff
- Strengthening partnerships with First Nations-owned businesses
- Embedding a truth-telling framework into staff and traveller experiences
- Launching new tools like on-Country learning and updated Acknowledgement of Country guidelines
Sara King, General Manager Purpose, added, “We’ve made meaningful progress since 2019. Now it’s time to go deeper. This RAP is a commitment to growth, partnership and truth.”
A long-term commitment
The Stretch RAP is the third of four RAP stages under Reconciliation Australia’s framework, aimed at embedding reconciliation into business operations with measurable, long-term impact.
