Journey Beyond has launched Island Connections, a new national brand for the SeaLink ferry and coastal services it acquired from Kelsian Group. Bookings are now open.
The brand brings together services to Bruny Island in Tasmania, the Whitsundays, K’gari (Fraser Island), the Tiwi Islands, Groote Eylandt and Darwin–Mandorah. Together, these operations carry more than 400,000 passengers a year.
Single brand for island access

Island Connections gives travellers and sellers one brand for reaching island and coastal destinations from Tasmania to the Top End. For advisors, it brings together ferry access to several regional destinations under a single operator as Journey Beyond integrates its newly acquired businesses.
The services also connect local communities with the mainland, particularly in the Northern Territory.
Journey Beyond Managing Director Experiences and Attractions Jennifer Vandekreeke will oversee the business. She said the aim was to unite the services while keeping each destination’s local character.
“Our role is to support the people who know these destinations best and bring these iconic destinations within reach of more travellers,” Vandekreeke said.
Marine portfolio reaches 150 vessels
Across its marine portfolio, Journey Beyond now operates more than 150 vessels and carries 2.6 million guests a year. The portfolio includes Cruise Whitsundays, Rottnest Express, Captain Cook Cruises in Sydney and Perth, and Red Cat Adventures.
Following the Kelsian acquisition, Journey Beyond now operates 35 brands across Australia and New Zealand. These span rail journeys such as The Ghan and Indian Pacific, resorts including Ayers Rock Resort and Kingfisher Bay Resort, and a range of tours and attractions.
