New Caledonia Tourism has launched its annual digital advent calendar, ‘Caledonian Xmas’, inviting Australian and New Zealand travellers to explore the archipelago through daily interactive content and prize giveaways. Running from 1 to 25 December and supported by Aircalin, the campaign aims to re-engage key markets with the destination through fun, discovery-led experiences.
Visitors can access the calendar via xmas.newcaledonia.travel, where the iconic cagou bird guides users from island to island, unlocking new content each day. Activities include mini-games, videos, personality tests, recipes, cultural tutorials and celebrity features, each designed to deepen traveller awareness of New Caledonia’s culture and landscapes.
Daily prizes and a major holiday giveaway

Participants can win instant prizes inspired by New Caledonia, ranging from gourmet hampers and outdoor gear to lagoon excursions and travel accessories. All entries are automatically placed in the Christmas grand draw, offering a chance to win return flights to Noumea from Australia or New Zealand, courtesy of Aircalin. The advent calendar is accessible globally, but prize eligibility is limited to Australian and New Zealand residents.
Campaign builds momentum for 2026 travel
New Caledonia Tourism is supporting the initiative with a broad promotional push across social channels, websites, newsletters and partnerships with influencers familiar with the destination. The campaign complements the wider “New Caledonia, A New Chapter Awaits!” strategy, designed to rebuild visibility and inspire future travel following a challenging period for the tourism sector.
The organisation says the advent calendar is a high-impact tool for maintaining daily engagement throughout December, helping to position New Caledonia front of mind for travellers planning 2026 holidays.
