From 17 June 2025 at 16:00 Singapore Time, Singapore Airlines (SIA) will implement a new Point of Commencement (POC) logic for bookings made via EDIFACT channels.
The change aims to align inventory availability across all distribution platforms, ensuring a consistent booking experience for agents and travellers alike.
What the new POC logic means for agents
Under the new POC logic, availability is determined based on the starting point of a passenger’s journey. All segments must be booked in the correct sequence of travel—matching the actual journey. Bookings made out of order or with dummy segments will be considered violations, and SIA reserves the right to cancel such PNRs.
If a travel itinerary is modified and the journey commences from a different point, agents are encouraged to cancel and recreate the PNR. Any bookings changed after 17 June will be reassessed based on the new POC availability at the time of modification.
For unchanged flights, bookings may proceed if the original Reservation Booking Designator (RBD) is still available. If not, agents are advised to contact SIA’s Sales Operations team for assistance.
Booking procedures simplified
To support this transition, SIA has outlined clear steps for agents:
For new PNRs:
- Check and book outbound Origin & Destination (O&D).
- Check and book inbound O&D.
For rebooking or reissuance:
- Check availability for the new O&D.
- Book the new O&D.
- Cancel the old O&D.
Agents can access detailed case scenarios and further guidance via the FAQs on SIA’s Agent 360 platform.
