Sunshine Coast reopens and welcomes visitors back

The Sunshine Coast tourism industry is back in business, with accommodation, attractions, restaurants and tours open and ready to welcome visitors.

The message was shared by Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC) at the ATEC Queensland Showcase in Sydney this week, reinforcing that the region is fully operational.

Flights, beaches and events back on track

VSC chief executive officer Matt Stoeckel confirmed that Sunshine Coast Airport is running as usual, with flights arriving from across Australia and New Zealand.

“Our world-class beaches of Mooloolaba and Noosa remain open and are in really good shape,” Stoeckel said.

Holiday parks have reopened, and while the Mooloolaba Triathlon had to be postponed, it has been rescheduled for 29–30 March. The Noosa Festival of Surfing is also set to go ahead this weekend.

“Our message to the travel trade in Australia and New Zealand is that we’re open for business and looking forward to welcoming their clients to the Sunshine Coast,” Stoeckel said.

Real-time social media campaign launched

To showcase the region, VSC has launched a Real Time Social Media Campaign using the hashtag #SunshineCoastForReal across Instagram and Facebook.

“The best way to get people travelling again is by showing them exactly what the Sunshine Coast looks like right now,” Stoeckel said.

The campaign has already gained traction, with 64,000 video views overnight, helping to drive bookings for local tourism businesses.
