Corporate travellers embrace bleisure breaks

A growing number of Australian corporate travellers are making the most of this year’s rare alignment of Easter and ANZAC Day, with one in three extending their trips to at least seven nights.

That’s a 20 per cent increase compared to the same window in 2024. Booking data also reveals the average trip length has increased from six to eight days, up 33 per cent year-on-year.

Smart planning creates 10-day holiday window

The unique calendar alignment in 2025 allows employees to take a 10-day break from 18 to 27 April by using just three days of annual leave between 22 and 24 April. This rare opportunity has made the Easter–ANZAC period especially appealing for corporate travellers looking to combine work and leisure.

Domestic and long-haul trends

Melbourne–Perth is currently the most in-demand domestic route for late April, followed by Melbourne–Sydney, while Sydney–London leads long-haul travel. Perth and Brisbane are topping the list for domestic bleisure destinations, while London, Shanghai, Auckland, Jakarta, and New York are proving popular internationally for trips of seven days or more.

Bleisure becomes the new normal

In the first quarter of 2025, the average corporate trip was five days. That jumps to eight days during the Easter–ANZAC period, signalling a wider cultural shift in the way business travel is approached. The trend reflects growing traveller interest in work-life balance, flexibility and wellness.

Tips for bleisure travel success

  • Plan ahead: High-demand routes sell out quickly. Mid-week and off-peak flights can offer better availability and pricing.
  • Use loyalty perks: Frequent flyer points, lounge passes and corporate hotel rates can enhance the experience and reduce costs.
  • Schedule downtime: Including rest and exploration boosts productivity and wellbeing on longer trips.
  • Know your entitlements: Lock in leave early and check company travel policies for support on leisure add-ons.
