Cruise Whitsundays reopens Reefworld as exclusive overnight reef experience

Cruise Whitsundays has unveiled a reimagined Reefworld, reopening the iconic pontoon at Hardy Reef as an exclusive overnight accommodation experience following a major refurbishment.

The transformed facility, located on the outer Great Barrier Reef, will now operate solely for overnight guests, offering Reefsleep and Reefsuite experiences as part of Journey Beyond’s continued investment in premium nature-based tourism.

Reefworld shifts to overnight-only experience

The refurbishment marks the most significant evolution of the Reefworld product since its launch, with the pontoon no longer operating as a day-use facility.

Guests will enjoy exclusive access to the pontoon, with all-inclusive packages featuring guided snorkelling with reef experts, premium dining, beverages and dedicated reef hosts.

Accommodation includes 16 redesigned Reefsleep reefbeds with added privacy features and the underwater Reefsuite rooms, alongside upgraded dining, lounge and relaxation spaces.

Journey Beyond CEO Chris Tallent said the redevelopment formed part of the company’s $40 million investment in the Whitsundays region.

Premium reef tourism investment continues

The overnight experience includes return scenic cruises through the Whitsunday Islands, a seafood buffet lunch, sunset cocktails, a chef-led three-course dinner with Australian wines, breakfast, snorkelling equipment and access to the underwater observatory and semi-submarine tours.

Optional experiences such as scuba diving and scenic helicopter flights are also available.

From 2027, guests will travel aboard a new 36-metre catamaran currently under construction, which will feature dedicated spaces for Reefworld passengers.

Reefsleep packages start from $895 per person twin share, while Reefsuite experiences start from $1,495 per person twin share, with bookings now open.
